We Are Looking for Apprentice Telecommunications Technicians
IF you are a Veteran, please apply to join so you can work with our veteran team!
FREE TRAINING – You will be trained on how to do this work.
We are seeking motivated candidates who are interested in entering the telecommunications field and learning the trade through a structured training program. This opportunity is ideal for individuals who are dependable, safety-conscious, and willing to work in a hands-on technical environment.
Basic Requirements
Candidates must be willing and able to:
• Lift up to 50 pounds
• Perform job site preparation work
• Maintain and clean hazardous material work environments
• Work in cramped vault or confined underground conditions
• Perform pole climbing work when required
• Assist with bucket truck operations
• Work with color-coded wiring systems
• Have a basic understanding of telecommunications outside plant work
Industry Environment
Candidates must understand that the architecture and design of telephone pole mounted splice cases and terminations, underground splices and terminations in manhole vaults (and sometimes hand holes), and the central offices throughout the service areas are all part of a highly regulated FCC telecommunications network.
Because of this, government rules and regulations must be followed exactly according to code, beginning with OSHA safety standards.
Training Process
After classroom training, the apprentice will enter a monitored, performance-based On-The-Job Training (OJT) period.
During this time, the apprentice will work under the supervision of a senior technician and will be assigned a variety of tasks related to the splicing of copper telecommunications cables of different sizes.
Hands-on splicing will be the final OJT module. Advancement to that level of training will depend on the apprentice’s demonstrated performance in safety, job setup, cleanup, and utility support tasks.
