This Workstation was probably the one of the most powerful Workstations when manufactured in late 2019 or early 202O. The i5-9400H processor was intended to be less fast than the i7 processors available for this machine, but surprise, surprise, testing has shown it surpasses the i7s that year. Even today it tests out 8% faster than the i7-9750H and 3% faster than the i7-10750H, the 307th fastest CPU out of 1423 commonly used CPUs. While the machine runs Dell Precision 7740 17 inch Laptop
perfectly, the bottom has come loose and may come off if you pick the laptop up. I use a little tape to keep it closed and it really is not a problem. In fact, it makes it extremely easy to get to parts in the bottom including Memory, the NVMe Drives, and other parts that can be added, removed, or replaced. I am selling this computer as I have replaced it with a newer Dell Precision.
If you go to Ebay to see what other folks are asking for this laptop, you will see a 7740 with 32 GB Ram, the same CPU and a 256 GB drive for $429.99. Another with a 256 GB drive for $299.99. Those are the only comparable laptops. Usually, comparable Precisions run about $350 to $400, but because of the loose bottom, I’m offering it for $250. This is an incredible deal for somebody that really wants a powerful laptop Workstation.
