Up for grabs is a 2003 Modulus 5-String Genesis Bass (discontinued), a rare collaboration with the legendary Michael Tobias of MTD. This instrument delivers elite-level performance with a quilted maple top and Modulus’ signature graphite T-Bar running the full length of the neck for unmatched stability. It’s loaded with a Hipshot bridge and Bartolini Jazz-style pickups paired with an 18V preamp (volume, blend, treble, mid, bass). The tonal range is massive—you can dial in virtually anything—but where it really shines is that rich, articulate fingerstyle tone that cuts through the mix without ever sounding harsh or artificial.
**Body:**
Alder body with a quilted maple top in a gloss pearl white finish.
**Neck:**
Maple neck with a maple fingerboard, 35” scale length, 1.8” nut width, 22 frets.
**Pickups/Hardware:**
Bartolini Jazz-style pickups, 18V preamp, Modulus tuning keys, Hipshot bridge, black knobs, graphite nut.
**Cosmetics:**
In great shape overall. There are light surface scratches, along with some dents and dings (notably next to where the battery goes). The back of the neck is clean, and the frets show minimal wear. Comes with great Elixir Nanoweb Nickel Strings (40-130) Nothing affects playability—this bass feels and sounds incredible.
**Playability:**
Recently inspected, set up, and restrung by a professional tech. The neck is straight, truss rod works perfectly, and the action is dialed in low and smooth—ready to play immediately.
