I doubt you'll see another Studebaker Champ in your neighborhood anytime soon. In 1964 Studebaker was on the ropes and about to go bankrupt. This was the final year ( last gasp ) of the Champ truck and only 2509 were produced. This bizarre / ugly ( a face only a mother could love ) truck was a conglomeration of the previous Studebaker truck chassis and the Lark sedan which they also built ( cab ). They were so desperate for a bed that they bought the previous year's Dodge tooling for the bed and made it fit and stamped Studebaker into the tailgate instead of Dodge. This V-8 three speed with overdrive column shift Champ is a driving work in progress. It starts, runs, shifts, stops, turns and idles without any drama ( no smoke, blow by, knocking or overheating ) new parts include tires, brakes, fuel pump and water pump. The headlights, taillights, brake lights and turn signals all work as does the speedometer, horn, temperature gauge, dome light and fan. The fuel gauge, wipers and radio are in-op. This truck is extremely straight and original but will require some minor rust repair on the driver's side floorboard. This Champ also features an industry first sliding rear window. I have a California title ( pink slip ) on hand and can easily be transferred to your name.
