Riverside Calisthenics Club - ALWAYS FREE (Riverside - Canyon Crest)
We are Riverside Calisthenics Club, inviting people interested in getting and staying fit to join us. Our workouts are based on basic body weight exercises on bars and dip stations. We're not Crossfitters. Our workouts are simple and focused on developing muscular strength and volume rather than endurance. You can especially benefit from our club if you're looking to start lifting in the future, because we pay close attention to steady muscle load progression and large cumulative weight lifted per workout.
WORKOUTS - Taft Park - 6826 New Ridge Dr, Riverside, CA - Monday, Thursday 7PM to 8PM BUT CHECK WITH US FIRST AS SOMETIMES WE CANCEL
Just show up and workout with us. Bring water, work gloves to protect your hands. Mondays - upperbody, Thursdays - lowerbody.
What is Calisthenics?- Exercises that uses only the weight of your body for resistance that originated thousands of years ago in ancient Greece and have been a major component of fitness in athletics, military, law enforcement, and daily fitness for home workouts without equipment.
Why Calisthenics?- It's a very efficient and effective way to increase overall strength, build well a developed and balanced muscular physique, it is safer than working with gym equipment and does not require any fitness memberships, gadgets or supplements. All you need is your body and (probably the most important) determination to succeed.
How does it work?- You use your own body weight to perform various exercises such as pull ups, push ups, dips, squats etc. You only use your body weight. Don't worry if you can't do a single pull up or dip. Resistance is increased or decreased through proper leveraging of your body weight, so you can start with exercises you're capable of doing correctly then slowly progress to less and less leverage until your muscles are strong enough to perform full body weight training. Everything starts gradually and progresses as your muscles get stronger.
Why a Club?- Camaraderie, encouragement, sharing about various techniques and exercises - these are the main goals for the club. It's the mutual support and accountability. Together we can achieve more than we can alone. We can push each other harder and encourage greater performance and progress.
Membership- Open to anyone, though you do need to make sure your overall healthy enough to exercises. If you're not sure always consult with your physician prior to beginning any training. There will be no commercial interest in this club of any kind, no fees etc.
You do not need gyms, equipment, weights, or personal trainers to succeed in having a strong and well built body. All you need is determination and a pair of gloves (to keep you from getting calluses on your hands as you will be doing a lot of bar exercises:)
