The Department of Public Works Administrative Services Division invites experienced accounting professionals seeking a challenging role to apply for Accounting Manager.*

The Administrative Services Division of Public Works oversees all aspects of the department's finances from establishing the $500 million budget for 123 funds to the financial reporting of revenues and expenditures. The division is responsible for setting the budget; monitoring and adjusting the budget; monitoring cash; processing payments and receipts; reporting expenses and revenues; preparing reimbursement claims; procuring materials, equipment, and supplies for the operations division; managing bonds; analyzing and implementing fees; overseeing audits performed within the department; and recommending and implementing policies and procedures to improve internal controls.

The Accounting Manager reports to the Public Works Chief Financial Officer and is responsible for overseeing and coordinating complex fiscal and administrative operations through subordinate supervisors. Additionally, this position administers accounting, analytical, payroll, and personnel operations; coordinates and responds to audits related to the transportation, flood control, and surveyor divisions; analyzes legislation to determine organizational impact; and identifies, establishes, and implements departmental policies and procedures.

Experience: Three (3) years of professional level administrative or management experience performing fiscal analysis and professional level accounting functions. Experience must include at least one (1) year of full scope supervisory experience.

Education: A Bachelor's degree in public/business administration, accounting, finance, or a closely related field.

Transcripts or a list of completed coursework must be submitted with the application if applicant does not possess a bachelor's degree in one of the qualifying fields of study.
